MAY (2002)

May was born with a congenital defect and her protective mother isolates her from her peers in order to protect her from ridicule.  In addition, she gives May a doll which she befriends.  This doll becomes May's best friend and remains her best friend into young adulthood as she serves as an aid for a veterinarian.  In the process she finds "Mr. Right", however, she lacks social skills to remain in the relationship and this leads her into a bizarre and twisted journey.  May is a two-sided story that is both full of compassion, but also as dark as the most hurtful resentment.  It provides an opportunity to see the ambiguity within a human being, which leads to a pretty good cinematic experience.
