INFERNAL AFFAIRS III (2003)

After thorough investigations into Yan's (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) murder, Ming (Andy Lau) is cleared from the charges and assigned as the head chief of aHong Kong's Police and Internal Affairs.  The overwhelming guilt that now darkens Ming's life drives him to search out criminals within the police force.  Yeung (Leon Lai) is a police officer who has swiftly been climbing the ranks within the police organized crime unit while Yan was working undercover.  The present circumstances seem to suggest that Yeung is a triad mole and Ming begins his investigation of Yeung.  However, Yeung is a very shrewd officer as he always appears to be two steps ahead of Ming.  Ming's only hope seems to be Yan's medical records that contain data from his meetings with his psychologist, which hopefully contains something about Yeung.

Infernal Affairs III sums up the trilogy with a suspenseful police drama that keeps the audience on its toes until the end.  The suspense is not of the same intense caliber as is experienced in the first film, but it is more deviously subtle and creeps under the skin of the audience.  It is this fine subtlety that displays Lau's and Mak's talent to create an unique cinematic experience in the third installment of the Infernal Affairs, which should encourage viewers to see all three films.
