I STAND ALONE (1998)

The main character, a retired butcher, decided to renounce his previous life as he moved into his mother-in-laws apartment with his pregnant wife  in an attempt to reform.  Despite his attempts to change his life, he finds himself in situations that cause his racing mind to build up a bitterness for his mere existence.  This bitterness eventually grow to obsessive hatred.  One day he finds himself in a situation where he cannot control his self-obsession and as a result he explodes.  I Stand Alone is evidently a rather disturbing portrait of a middle-aged man's contempt for society, which is depicted through racing monologues where reflections of actual thought and action seem to be irrelevant.  In the end, the audience is left with an unsettling story that will trigger thought and reflection.
