|
Two different men on two different socio-economic levels end up in a minor car accident where the callous lawyer Gavin Banek (Ben Affleck) is in a hurry to a court appearance and feels that he does not have time to fill out insurance papers. Doyle Gibson (Samuel Jackson), a recovering alcoholic and insurance salesman, insists to do the right thing, but is cut off by Gavin with a blank check. At court, Gavin realizes that he lost some power of attorney documents at the scene of the accident and doesn't even know Doyle's name or phone number, since they did not fill out the insurance papers. During this time, Doyle arrives late to a court hearing regarding the custody of his children and therefore loses his case. Both Gavin and Doyle are devastated by what has happened and this is then the beginning on a very long day for the both of them. Changing Lanes is an interesting film in the sense that it addresses issues regarding honesty and ethics from two different perspectives. The film provides a fine film experience that entertains, but also make us wonder about why we are here and what we should do with our current position in society. |
